MG Motor India has unveiled the Windsor EV Pro, an upgraded version of its popular electric vehicle. Priced at ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), this new variant brings enhanced features, a larger battery, and advanced safety technologies to the table. Bookings for the Windsor EV Pro will commence on May 8, 2025, with the introductory price applicable for the first 8,000 customers.

    Enhanced Battery and Impressive Range

The Windsor EV Pro is equipped with a 52.9kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, a significant upgrade from the standard model’s 38kWh battery. This larger battery offers an impressive claimed range of 449 kilometers on a single charge, making it suitable for both city commutes and longer journeys.

Charging options include a 7.4kW AC charger, which takes approximately 9.5 hours for a full charge, and a 60kW DC fast charger that can charge the battery from 20% to 80% in just 50 minutes.

    Advanced Safety with Level-2 ADAS

Safety is a key focus in the Windsor EV Pro, featuring Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This suite includes 12 advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and traffic jam assist.

Additional safety features encompass six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start and descent control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

    Stylish Design and Premium Interiors

The Windsor EV Pro boasts a refreshed exterior with new 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, enhancing its visual appeal. Three new color options—Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver—add to the personalization choices for buyers.

Inside, the vehicle features a dual-tone ivory and black interior, providing a premium feel. The cabin is equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital driver display, ventilated front seats, a panoramic glass roof, wireless charging, and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system.

    Innovative Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) Technology

A standout feature in the Windsor EV Pro is the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing the car’s battery to supply power to external electrical devices. This function transforms the vehicle into a mobile power source, useful during outdoor activities or emergencies.

    Flexible Ownership with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)

MG offers a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model for the Windsor EV Pro, enabling customers to purchase the vehicle at a reduced upfront cost of ₹12.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and pay a battery rental fee of ₹4.5 per kilometer. This flexible ownership model lowers the initial investment and can be beneficial for certain users.

Competitive Positioning in the EV Market

The Windsor EV Pro enters a competitive electric vehicle market, challenging models like the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and Hyundai Creta Electric. With its extended range, advanced safety features, and premium offerings, the Windsor EV Pro aims to attract a broad spectrum of EV buyers in India.
