New Delhi: Have you been issued a traffic challan even when you believe you’re not at fault? If yes, there’s good news for you. The government offers a solution through Lok Adalat, where you can get your challan reduced or even canceled.

    What is Lok Adalat?

Lok Adalat, also known as the People’s Court, is an alternative dispute resolution mechanism where disputes, including traffic challans, can be settled amicably. This process is especially helpful for individuals who feel they have been wrongly penalized by the traffic police.

How to Settle Your Challan in Lok Adalat

If you’ve received a traffic challan, here’s how you can potentially get it reduced or canceled:

    1. Register for Lok Adalat: The first step is to register for Lok Adalat. You need to upload essential documents on the official government portal. Once you complete the registration process, you’ll receive details about when and where to present your case.
    2. Presenting Your Case: After registration, you’ll be assigned a time and a courtroom to present your case. You can either present your case personally or hire a lawyer to represent you. The court will consider your arguments and may decide to reduce or cancel your challan.
