Maruti Suzuki India Limited, a leading player in the automotive industry, has begun exporting its latest crossover, the Fronx, to Japan. This marks a significant milestone as the Fronx becomes the first SUV from Maruti Suzuki to be introduced in the Japanese market. The first shipment of over 1,600 vehicles recently departed from Pipavav port in Gujarat, further cementing India’s position as a key manufacturing hub for the global automotive sector.

Fronx: A Special Model for Japan

Maruti Suzuki, a joint venture between India and Japan, has been manufacturing the Fronx exclusively at its Gujarat plant. This crossover SUV is the second Maruti Suzuki model to be exported to Japan, following the successful export of the Baleno in 2016. The Fronx was officially launched in India on April 24, 2023, after its global debut at the Auto Expo 2023. Priced between ₹7.51 lakh and ₹13.04 lakh (ex-showroom), the Fronx has quickly gained popularity in the Indian market, and now it’s ready to make its mark in Japan.

    Key Features and Mileage

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is available in six trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Delta Plus, Delta Plus Optional, Zeta, and Alpha. This 5-seater crossover SUV offers a range of color options, including seven monotone and three dual-tone combinations. The Fronx is also available in CNG variants, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles.

Under the hood, the Fronx comes with two engine options: a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine equipped with mild hybrid technology and a 1.2-liter dualjet petrol engine. These engines are designed to deliver a balance of performance and fuel efficiency. The petrol variants of the Fronx offer an impressive mileage of up to 22.89 kmpl, while the CNG variants can achieve up to 28.51 km/kg, making it an economical choice for consumers.

A Testimony to Quality and Innovation

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, highlighted the significance of exporting the Fronx to Japan, one of the most quality-conscious and technologically advanced automotive markets in the world. He emphasized that this achievement reflects Maruti Suzuki’s ability to produce world-class vehicles that meet international standards in terms of technology, performance, safety, and quality.

A Bright Future for Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki’s decision to export the Fronx to Japan not only showcases the company’s manufacturing capabilities but also strengthens India’s position as a global automotive manufacturing hub. As the demand for high-quality, efficient, and technologically advanced vehicles continues to grow, Maruti Suzuki is well-positioned to meet the needs of customers both in India and abroad. The success of the Fronx in Japan could pave the way for more Indian-made vehicles to enter other international markets in the future.
